Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take?
Using our sophisticated 3D printing technology, 3Dimension Design creates physical models and prototypes in a fast, cost-effective manner. What used to take weeks to manufacture can now be produced by 3Dimension Design in a matter of days.
How much will it cost?
Scale models created through rapid prototyping are significantly less expensive than models created by hand. At $11.00 / in³ we think you will find our models to be of great value.
How are the models made?
3Dimension Design uses the Z-Corp Z 310 printer to create models efficiently. After printing, the models are removed from the printer and infiltrated with a 2-part epoxy to add strength and durability to the model.
What file types are supported?
The Z-310 will accept files in the following formats, however we can convert many different file types to .stl.
- VRML
- STL
- BLD
- PLY
- SFX
What are model size restrictions
To achieve the greatest cost benefit models should be sized to fit in a 8 X 10 X 8 cube. However, larger models may be printed in sections and glued together.
What is the minimum thickness?
We have successfully printed parts as thin as .015. Typical layer thickness is .004.
Can I print an assembly with moving parts?
Yes.
What about confidentiality?
3Dimension Design ensures complete confidentiality concerning your intellectual property. If requested, 3Dimension Design is happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement for your protection.
What if I don't have a 3D digital model?
3Dimension Design can create a digital 3D model from as little as some hand sketches on a napkin.
